Without using any gas, it is also possible to use a MIG welder. It is this one that is called as an FCAW or flux cored arc welding. The FCAW uses a wire that is hollow and filled with flux. It is also the FCAW that can be done outside since there is no shielding gas that will be blown away. It is by using the flux core wire that is more hotter which is why it is also great for thick metals. Similar to the ordinary welder, there are slags that you need to be removing in a FCAW. It is also this process that can also be used to weld thinner and light sheet metals.
