The MSAC Artist in Residence (AiR) program provides grants to Maryland schools that cover half the cost of a teaching artist residency in a particular school. He has presented on behalf of the United States Department of State International Visitors Leadership Program with Community Arts Center Directors from Dakar, Senegal, Africa, and with prominent arts executives from Baghdad, Iraq representing the Ministry of Culture, University of Baghdad, and the Iraqi National Symphony.
Please vote for school board candidates who can see the bigger picture, who support improving existing schools, who are not afraid to take a stand and restore arts teachers across the district instead of building new experimental high schools at the whims of local corporations.
Recent Reports from the National Art Education Association (NAEA) confirmed with Governor Davis when they reported Students in art study score higher on both their Verbal and Math SAT tests than those who are not enrolled in arts courses (California Art Study, 2003, p. 5). Attached is a copy of the test scores of students in the arts and students with no arts coursework.
The goal of the initiative is for Philadelphia Schools to: improve academic performance in reading; improve students’ attitudes of self and school; help classroom teachers integrate arts and literacy; improve teacher capacity; and improve teacher understanding of core curriculum.
It can also be renewed for up to 4 years to full time, undergraduate, day-school education, as long as the beneficiary of the culinary arts scholarship for international students is able to maintain a grade point average of 2.75. All international students who want to apply for the scholarship must submit an international admissions applications together with their high school transcript of records.
