The Teaching and Learning Exchange supports teaching and learning enhancement, working in partnership with staff and students. The best benefit of this program is that being a graduate in liberal arts an individual can find a variety of careers, particularly in media, law, business and social work. With more than 15 years teaching in high schools, he joined Project Zero in 1986, working since then on projects in arts education, alternative assessment, project-based curriculum and school reform.
Using feminist pedagogy, mastery is individual and is sought on the learners own terms and through collaborative learning with a focus on interpretations and connections instead of predetermined conclusions. In 2005 Arts & Learning became Incorporated and recognized as a non-profit organization.
Students’ identities are made up of a variety of aspects, such as gender, race, class, sexuality, nationality, ability, and age, which are dynamic factors, that more than anything else influences the learning experience. It presents information on Seattle schools and others that have incorporated the arts successfully.
It is easier to incorporate art at the elementary school level but high school students need the arts to nurture their brains too. At Arts & Learning, our arts programs are designed to prepare students (k-10) with skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.
Its films contain valuable source material for biographies, monographs, and many other forms of research in art history and documentary film-making. This was the first UNESCO Chair in the field of arts education in the world, and remains one of only two to be approved by UNESCO to date.
