Welcome to the Blackduck Area History and Art Center (BAHAC), located at the top of the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway in northern Minnesota. Cited as the ultimate champion of high-potential undergraduates, and often referred to as a junior Nobel Prize”, the Undergraduate Awards is the world’s largest international academic awards programme, recognising excellent research and original work across the sciences, humanities, business and creative arts.
The design style known as Art Deco was showcased in 1925 at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris and became a highly popular style of decorative art, design and architecture during the inter-war years (much employed by cinema and hotel architects).
Our majors have gone on to thrive in graduate MA and PhD programs in art history and in careers in College and University teaching, museums, and the art market; for others, art history coursework has proven outstanding preparation for a broad range of disciplines, including law, business, and medicine.
King ShÅ Hashi who united the Okinawa and other neighboring islands supported adopting anything Japanese or Chinese that would help develop his country, so martial arts continued to develop. The inglenook had been a popular revival feature of Arts and Crafts’ fireplaces as it created seating around the fire – often the only warm part of the house.
In order to make the country as Japanese as possible they outlawed native martial arts while encouraging the practice of Japanese martial arts like Jujitsu, Judo, and Karate.
