The course will provide students with the latest skills and knowledge that will prepare them for a variety of roles in the dynamic and ever-changing industries associated with arts, media and communication. A handful of students interested in graduate school have interned as research assistants with faculty in Communication Arts, getting hands-on experience in conducting communication research as a preparation for graduate study. The module traces the history of community arts and provides practical exercises on workshop skills to develop an understanding of the role of music technology in the local community.
This module develops your skills as a filmmaker further, pushing you into new creative territory. The College of Fine Arts and Communication offers undergraduate and graduate programs of exceptional quality in selected disciplines. You will be armed with an understanding of the U.S. constitution, international law and politics, an appreciation for speech, communication and ethics.
Student performance on the job is judged based upon (a) the on-the-job supervisor’s assessment and (b) evidence of completing practicum objectives (hours and tasks) in the daily journal and portfolio. This one-year certificate program prepares you for success in a variety of programs as you explore your interests, aptitudes and skills, assess career choices, and prepare for further postsecondary studies.

Candidates in the Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) must successfully complete 78cp in specified media and communications units of study and a major from a subject area from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Editors and broadcasters benefit from on-the-job training or completing an apprenticeship in their field to prepare them to compete for jobs.
