In the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media (CFAM), our students find the right balance of academics and application to prepare them for their career. Students must complete 78 credit points (cp) in compulsory Media and Communications units of study. The Bachelor of Communication (Honours) ( C09047 ) is available to eligible students with an additional one year of full-time study. The overall goal is to develop an understanding of the process and tools of mass communication industries and their political background.
The department has cooperation agreements with Makarere University in Kampala, Uganda, Joshibi University in Tokyo and Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK (Institute for Art Education; establishment of a doctoral colloquium and a research collaboration).
This occurs in every subject in the Media Arts and Production major ( MAJ10021 ). Students attend relevant production workshops in the use of cameras and audio and related equipment, as well as video editing, sound editing and digital software and technology.
The School of Communications maintains labs that offer state-of-the-art facilities to allow students to practice professional skills they learn in the classroom. With a major in graphic design, journalism, English, or communications those interested in a career in arts and communications can consider becoming a graphic designer, publishing editor or broadcaster.
