A place where art, medicine, social media and pop-culture collide and create a patient voice in health information technology. Depending on the study areas you choose throughout the health sciences component of this course, you may qualify to work in areas such as health promotion, health education, community health, project management, program planning, case management, counselling, family and community support, housing services, regional health service planning, sports psychology, sports nutrition and sports development.
Arts engagement can be defined as active (e.g. making art) or passive (e.g. attending events) involvement in creative activities or events within a variety of art forms such as the performing arts, visual arts, literature, electronic/digital arts and festivals.
Critically, health and wellbeing are influenced by other factors in life that are outside of the NHS, therefore, this research grouping has an overarching focus on the social determinants of health the factors that underpin both health and wellbeing.
ARHL510: Foundations in Arts and Health (3cr) – This course provides a general survey of the arts, across their various forms and manifestations (performing, studio, literary, etc.) as they relate to the numerous domains of human health (physiological, cognitive, emotional, social, etc.).
